Recognized by many
Nashville music industry leaders as America’s number one Christian
Country music group, The Fox Brothers are a household name among
Christian Country music fans, as well as many fair and festival goers
throughout the United States, making this group a brightly shining star
of Christian and country music. They
are known for their close family harmony and their onstage comedy.
The Fox Brothers have a unique ability to entertain audiences
with their style of humor while keeping a serious tone to their music
and message. Roy, Randy, and
Lynn Fox are the only children born to their parents, Gilbert and
Mildred Fox. They were
raised in a small frame house in Bending Chestnut, Tennessee, a small
crossroads community located in southwest Williamson County, just west
of Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee. Their father was a
minister and pastor. He
also owned and operated a local lumber business and sawmill with his
brother, T. C. Fox, Jr. This
is where Roy, Randy, and Lynn worked during the summers and at other
times while growing up, especially during their high school and college
years. They also sang
during many revivals and church services where their dad was asked to
preach. With a strong
Christian guidance from their parents, along with the experience of
working with their dad and uncle at the sawmill, the boys learned much
about honesty and work ethic during their formative years. During their
childhood and teenage years, the Fox Brothers performed at many local
charity events, revivals, and area churches in Middle Tennessee.
They also did some early recording and appeared on several local
television shows in the Nashville area. However, it was not
until after the brothers’ teenage years that their music was noticed
by industry professionals. It
was at that time that Roy, Randy, and Lynn began to make some vital
career decisions. Their
first single releases in the Southern Gospel music field “In The
Middle Of The Night” reached the top 20 in the Singing
News Magazine charts, and another song “It’s Time For Love”
was the group’s first top 10 single in that same chart. In 1999 and 2000,
The Fox Brothers won three major awards from the Christian Country music
industry. In November 1999,
the group was presented the “Entertainer Of The Year” award by the
Christian Country Music Association.
In November of 2000 and 2001, The Fox Brothers repeated their win
as Entertainer Of The Year and were also presented the organization’s
“Vocal Group Of The Year”, an award they received for a record eight
years until 2007. The Fox Brothers
have also received many awards from the Country Gospel Music Guild
(CGMG), The International County Gospel Music Association (ICGMA), and
the United States Association Of Gospel Entertainers & Musicians
(USAGEM). In 2010, Roy,
Randy, and Lynn Fox hosted the televised 7th Annual USAGEM
Awards Show where The Fox Brothers were presented the trophy for
“Group Of The Year”, an award they have now garnered for four years.
Roy Fox was presented the “Comedian Of The Year” award for
the second time. Also,
Randy Fox received a nod as a nominee for “Male Vocalist Of The
Year”. However, winning
awards is only a small piece of their stardom puzzle.
Throughout their distinguished career, The Fox Brothers have
performed extensively at fairs, festivals, and special events throughout
the United States and Canada. The group’s
appearances at the world-famous Grand Ole Opry have given them instant
fame and credibility among country music fans worldwide.
“We love to perform at the Opry”, said Lynn Fox.
“Every time my brothers and I get to perform on that stage, we
are fulfilling our childhood dreams.” In addition to
their televised Grand Ole Opry appearances, The Fox Brothers have
performed on numerous popular television shows.
The group served as hosts of the televised 7th Annual
USAGEM Awards in November 2010, which was aired on the Family-Friendly
Entertainment Network. The
Fox Brothers have performed several times on the annual “ICM
Awards”, sponsored by the Christian Country Music Association.
This televised show has been aired on GAC, TCT, TBN, and other
networks. The group has
also appeared many times on “Sunday Mornin’ Country”, a program
filmed for television from the Grand Ole Opry House.
This show is sponsored by the Music City Christian Fellowship and
is held during the annual CMA Music Festival in Nashville.
The Fox Brothers have also made guest appearances on “Nashville
Now” on The Nashville Network, and “Crook & Chase”. The Fox Brothers
have produced several music videos including “Long As I Got You”,
“If That Ain’t Love”, “Tending To Todd”, and “Squares”.
These videos have been featured on television networks such as
GAC, TCT, the Family-Friendly Entertainment Network, plus other networks
and shows that feature music video programming. The Fox Brothers
are best known for their radio hits “Like Ol’ Hank”, “Tending To
Todd”, “Squares”, “Red, White & Blue”, and “It’s Time
For Love”. The group has
enjoyed many other number one Christian Country radio singles in the
Christian Country and Country Gospel music charts including “Turn My
Life Around”, “Red Top Mountain”, “Cradle Of Love”, “Say It
Now”, “He Broke The Law”, “Backslider’s Prayer”,
“Yours”, “In This House”, “If That Ain’t Love”, and
“Tell God Goodnight”. Another aspect of
The Fox Brothers’ appeal is their comedy.
Roy Fox evokes tons of laughter from audiences with his always
glib, sometimes excited, occasionally befuddled character whose two
favorite subjects are food and politics.
He bounces his off-the-wall, unconventional humor off his
quick-witted straight man brother, Lynn Fox.
Roy Fox was
presented the “Comedian Of The Year” award by the Country Gospel
Music Guild in 1999; the trophy for “Comedy Act Of The Year” from
the Christian Country Music Association in 2002 and 2003; and the
“Comedian Of The Year” award from the United States Association Of
Gospel Entertainers & Musicians in 2009 and 2010. Although The Fox
Brothers have been performing together since their pre-teen years, this
band of brothers continues to be a force in the music industry through
concerts, radio, and television. They continue to gain numerous awards
and maintain a solid reputation for excellence among fans and music
critics alike. “We love
to perform”, Roy said. “We
get to meet a lot of great people who love music and life.
When we get to entertain them, that’s when we are at our
happiest.” |
